SUPPORT:

At FLAVNT Streetwear we are huge on supporting small, queer, and local people/businesses along with groups making a positive effort to make change in society. In the world, there is often way too much competition and ugliness and sometimes small brands get dragged into that competition. This page was created as a means to show y'all some of the businesses/brands/people whose backs we have and who we have supported through their endeavors. You will find queer, small, Austin-based, and grassroots organizations on this page that could use your support however you can lend it. Please take a moment to check out the links and names below and support monetarily if you have the means. Spread love and support, y'all, it's the least we can do!

SUPPORT QUEER PROJECTS:

So we want to counteract that with love, respect, and appreciation. Here are some of our favorite queer projects/brands/resources we support and admire and you should check them out too!

In the spring of 2016, two friends set out to start a simple photography project to present at an art show. At that time, it was in their hearts to take portraits of transgender individuals in the local area. That summer they displayed portraits of five different trans individuals: four trans men and one non-binary individual. After that art show, they made the decision to continue their work with the Normality Project.

SUPPORT LOCAL:

Below are a couple of Austin-based organizations making a difference. We love what they do for our community and we love supporting them.

When Austin Pets Alive! started rescuing animals in 2008, Austin was somewhat rich in resources that prevented births. For almost ten years, more and more resources were put into spay and neuter programs, but the live outcome rate at our city shelter was stuck around 50%. Of course, the population of Austin was quickly growing, so it’s likely that the spay and neuter resources were helping our live outcome rate from getting worse.

Out Youth serves the Central Texas LGBTQ+ (lesbian/gay/bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning) youth and their allies with programs and services to ensure these promising young people develop into happy, healthy, successful adults. Founded in 1990, Out Youth has grown and changed over the years, but we’ve always retained our most important facet – providing a safe space for LGBTQ+ youth to come together, receive support, and make friends who understand who they are.

Black Lives Matter is a chapter-based national organization working for the validity of Black life. We are working to (re)build the Black liberation movement. This is Not a Moment, but a Movement. #BlackLivesMatter was created in 2012 after Trayvon Martin’s murderer, George Zimmerman, was acquitted for his crime, and dead 17-year old Trayvon was posthumously placed on trial for his own murder. Rooted in the experiences of Black people in this country who actively resist our dehumanization, #BlackLivesMatter is a call to action and a response to the virulent anti-Black racism that permeates our society.Black Lives Matter is a unique contribution that goes beyond extrajudicial killings of Black people by police and vigilantes.
